Sea Eagle SE330 Pro Inflatable Kayak Review

The Sea Eagle 330 Pro kayak is a tough, two-passenger inflatable kayak. When blown up, it is capable of holding about 500 pounds of weight. Just like with other kayaks in a similar price range, the Sea Eagle kayak has I-beam engineering, strong welded seams, and a thick exterior.

The Sea Eagle 330 Pro, can fit in its storage bag for easy transport, and it is spacious enough to bring a few days of camping and fishing supplies. This kayak is quite functional for a variety of uses, from relaxing paddling with the family to fishing on a lake or river. Rest assured that the SE330 can handle even Class III whitewater rapids.

Additional specifics are the back and front rope handles and spray skirts that are inflatable. Moreover, it comes with a drain valve that is self-bailing, which is a convenient feature when you head to ocean surf or whitewater channels.

    Comfort and Handling

Sea Eagle SE330 Inflatable Kayak with Pro PackageEven though the Sea Eagle 330 Pro is suitable for two individuals, and can carry around 500 pounds. This is certainly one comfortable kayak for a single individual even if they are tall and with long legs. In fact, keeping stuff for the excursion is more feasible with one kayaker. It is easy to steer and manage the craft, which is attributable to the two skegs that are connected below the vessel.

With some practice and lots of kayaking adventure, you will have an easy time to head straight and gradually speed it up. While the Sea Eagle SE330 Pro is not a speed devil especially in the open sea and paddling can sometimes be a challenge in heavy winds, this kayak certainly excels on streams and small rivers, in which speed paddling is quite easy.

    Transporting

Sea Eagle SE330 Inflatable Sports Kayak Pro PackageWith a weight of 26 pounds, the SE330 is as light and sturdy as it can be for a 2-passenger kayak. A teenager can carry it without difficulty, yet big enough to transport two individuals in comfort. This Pro model includes a storage bag to make sure you are ready to go from the time it arrives in your home. You can keep with you in your car and use anytime for quick excursions or store. It is not bulky at all.

    Value and Price

The 330 Sea Eagle Pro is in the middle range price tag for a high-quality kayak pro version. There are less durable and shorter kayaks at an affordable price out there. However, many cheap kayaks do not include paddles, a pump, or a storage bag. The SE 330 is equipped with a one-foot pump, two seats, two 8-foot paddles, plus a carrying bag.

    Convenience

The fishing methods while on a kayak basically is the same as with other watercraft. One of the big differences between these kayaks is the positioning and available space for fishing equipment and other accessories. The Sea Eagle SE330 Pro is a modern fishing kayak, which can fit important accessories such as a repair kit.

    Balance and Stability

Sea Eagle SE330 Inflatable Sports Kayak Pro Solo Package - white waterThe SE 330 inflatable kayak is reliable on the water. You can depend on it in turbulent waters and tough weather conditions. As a kayak angler, you can bring the 330 in less favorable spots just to get that prized fish. It comes with an enclosed seating that provides you with a better sense of balance and lower resistance to the wind when kayaking in rough waters.

    Pros

The Sea Eagle SE330 Pro has a lot of advantages. To start with, it is lightweight, and thus you can carry and lift it by yourself. It is small enough that you can even take it with you on a vehicle. It is an affordable inflatable kayak that is easy to set up; you only need a few minutes for the quick installation.

The 330 Pro comes with deluxe seats that are really comfortable for the two people who can fit inside. In fact, this kayak can be used for solo kayaking. It has a high level of versatility that guarantees a safe paddle in the flat water and mild whitewater.

    Cons

Sea Eagle SE330 Inflatable Sports Kayak Pro Solo Package - fishingThe tracking could possibly be more effective for the Sea Eagle 330 Pro despite having the two skegs included. There are also no tie-down ropes available in this package.

In addition, some users think that the 330 Pro version is somewhat crowded for two individuals. In that case, they can opt to get the SE370, which is the longer model of the Sea Eagle.

    Conclusion

    See Best Price Blue

On the whole, the Sea Eagle 330 inflatable kayak pro is a great investment. They come in good quality and the right choice for paddling, fishing or simply enjoying nature. For a beginner kayaker, you will be happy with the SE330. If you prefer to go on fishing escapades by yourself, it is also a better pick. This is also the right option for short journeys, with its comfortable single-seating position.

While it is not a super machine, it is safe in fast-flowing rapids. If you desire excitement and a thrill ride, you can go for the SE330 kayak. It is capable of giving you a fun and satisfying kayaking experience.

If you consider yourself a skillful kayaker, you can even take the Sea Eagle SE330 Pro to more challenging spots to help you capture that prize catch that your fishing colleagues have been boasting about.

Sea Eagle is a family owned business, located east of New York City on Long Island. Their base of operation is nearby Port Jefferson Harbor wherein some of the most high quality yachts are manufactured.

Because the business is so close to the water, experimenting with new builds and how each one fares in an actual setting comes easily to them. To this day, you can still witness employees of Sea Eagle testing out new products in the area. So, when Sea Eagle claims that all their items are proven and tested, you best believe it.

From its beginnings in 1968 up to the present, Sea Eagle boats has never failed to exceed itself with new iterations. The first product Sea Eagle released was a 2-person inflatable kayak named Pyrawa, which was highly received by patrons up until the early 1970s.

Every year new models were released or modified, and with this comes the continued expansion of Sea Eagle’s catalogue. However, it was not only the lineups that grew, but also the entire company itself excelled as a customer-oriented business. Getting good service these days is rare, but you can rely on this one to accommodate you like family.

Hopefully, you now have a better grasp on Sea Eagle’s past and how it strived to become one of the best brands of inflatables to date. Without further delay, let us now go over some popular models under its name, and check which one will suit your style the most.

    • Sea Eagle SE370K_P Pro Inflatable Kayak

Sea Eagle SE370K_P Inflatable Kayak with Pro PackageThe Sea Eagle SE370K_P Pro is the pro version of the Sea Eagle 370 inflatable sport kayak. It comes with the default unit seen in the standard deal, but with the addition of several accessories at a significantly cheaper cost. That being said, you can expect the main hull to have similar functions and specifications as the regular one.

To make this review simpler, let us go over what comes with the Pro version first. With this promo, you will receive the following items: two 7 ft. 10 in. AB30 paddles, two deluxe inflatable seats, an A42 foot pump, a carry bag, and a small repair kit.

The Sea Eagle SE370 is ideally made for two paddlers, but with its 295-kg. max weight capacity, you can have your dog accompany you. As for the size of the kayak, it measures 381 cm. long and 86 cm. wide. The unit weighs around 15 kg., which is lightweight enough for you and another person to carry effortlessly.

The SE370K_P model of Sea Eagle is built using 38 mil Polykrylar (K80 PVC) material, resulting to high puncture resistance. Furthermore, the flooring on this kayak uses the brand’s own inflatable I-beam construction, which is not only rigid, but also highly resistant to tears, even with your canine onboard.

In rare instances where one of the air compartments is pierced, you can rest easy that you will still stay afloat. This is because the kayak is equipped with 3 individual air bladders. One is the floor, and the other two are the port and starboard.

Inflating the Sea Eagle SE370K_P kayak takes no time at all, and can be finished in just 8 minutes. Plus, the high frequency welded seams make the inflatable kayak strong yet flexible. Tracking is also optimized even when it is used on class III whitewater, thanks to the 2 skegs on the bottom section of the kayak.

    • Sea Eagle SE330 Pro Inflatable Kayak

Sea Eagle SE330 Inflatable Kayak with Pro PackageThe Sea Explorer 330 model looks just like the SE370, but with a slightly shorter and lighter build. Specifically, the Sea Eagle SE330 measures 340 cm. in length, and has an overall heft of 12 kg. With its compact build, it can only carry up to 227 kg. of bulk, but it can still hold 2 people just fine.

Much like the previous item, the Sea Eagle SE300 Pro version also comes with the same set of accessories. Moreover, the SE330 is suitable for class III whitewater and below. In contrast to the SE370, the Polykrylar (K80 PVC) material used on this version is 5-mil thinner (33 mil). Nevertheless, both have relatively the same level of durability.

The port, starboard, and floor, accounts for the total number (3) of air chambers in this device. Speaking of floor, this one is also equipped with the 5-tube inflatable I-beam construction. If rigidity and buoyancy is what you are after, the Sea Eagle SE330 inflatable kayak will not disappoint.

To help keep you dry, the kayak uses lashed down inflatable spray skirts. If water splashes in, you can get rid of it via the open and close drain valve. Getting back on the deck after falling overboard is also made easy by climbing via the bow and stern grab line.

Inflating this kayak only takes 6 minutes, give or take. This allows you to get in and out of the water quickly. As for tracking capabilities, the 2 skegs on the bottom of the Se330 kayak will enhance such performance.

    • Sea Eagle Razorlite 393RL Inflatable Kayak

Sea Eagle Razorlite 393rl Pro package Inflatable KayakThe RazorLite™ series of Sea Eagle is all about speed. With that said, each unit under this category sports a narrower build. For the Sea Eagle Razorlite 393RL, it measures 71 cm. in width and 391 cm. in length.

More importantly, the Razorlite products are the world’s first all drop stitch floor inflatable kayaks. This breakthrough engineering makes the kayak so firm that you can even stand on it, similar to a stand up paddleboard. However, you should stick to a sitting position first, especially if you are just starting out.

The person capacity of the Razorlite 393RL model is limited to one. It can bear up to 227 kg. of total weight, which is more than sufficient for one average-sized adult, and a couple of gears. As for the heft of the hull, it weighs 15 kg., which is lightweight for one person to carry.

There are 3 air chambers in the Razorlite 393RL (port, starboard, and floor). The inflatable kayak is manufactured using a combination of 1,100 decitex reinforced fabric, quadruple overlapped seam, and drop stitch material.

Aside from having a narrow and long shape, the kayak also sports unique bow and stern molds with tapered side walls. This design approach improves the tracking performance of the kayak, allowing it to slice through water seamlessly. The large, removable, swept back rear skeg also contributes in this regard.

When cruising at high speeds, there is always a likelihood for water to splash inside the deck. Luckily, there is a spray skirt on both front and rear ends of the kayak to keep you dry, while the 2 open and close drains valves prevent the accumulation of fluid.

    • Sea Eagle 385FT FastTrack Inflatable Kayak

Sea Eagle 385FT FastTrack Deluxe Inflatable KayakThe Sea Eagle FastTrack™ series is known for its inflatable ‘NeedleKnife Keel’ design. With it, you will be able to paddle faster and straighter, all without sacrificing balance. Speaking of which, the sleek asymmetrical shape of the 385FT FastTrack model also abates accidental overturns, even with more than one person onboard.

Dimensions-wise, the Sea Eagle 385FT FastTrack measures 381 cm. long and 91 cm. wide. Its max weight capacity is around 288 kg., which is adequate for a group of 3 people. However, the 385FT is more ideal for 2 passengers in order to maximize performance.

Unlike the first three entries, this one has a total of 4 air chambers. This includes the port, starboard, floor, and now the keel. Such amount guarantees that in case one of the tubes is punctured, you will still have several reserves left to keep you floating, so you can safely get back to shore.

Despite having an additional air bladder to inflate, this inflatable kayak can still be assembled in just 7 minutes. The seam is electronically welded and is quadruple overlapped, resulting to high pressure resilience.

In general, the 385FT by Sea Eagle is constructed with 1,100 decitex reinforced fabric. As for the base, a removable high pressure drop stitch floor can be inserted. Surprisingly, this unit is compatible with a 34-lbs. thrust electric motor with a max engine weight of 15 lbs.

However, you have to buy the mount and engine separately. Alternatively, you can avail the Pro motor package deal of the product, which will include these two fixtures, but at a discounted rate. The standard version comes with the following accessories: nylon carry bag, repair kit, and printed instructions.

There are 18 D-rings on the Sea Eagle 385FT FastTrack, which you can use to secure the seats and your gears. Due to its flatter shape, you are advised not to ride the kayak beyond class II whitewater.

    • Sea Eagle TC16 Travel Inflatable Canoe

Sea Eagle TC16 Inflatable Travel Canoe KayakAll the products we have discussed thus far are inflatable kayaks. The TC16 Travel, however, is an inflatable canoe, which is currently the only one of its kind among Sea Eagle’s vast collection of inflatables. The biggest advantage it has over solid canoes is portability.

Unlike the traditional variant, the Sea Eagle TC16 can be folded easily, and can even fit in the trunk of a small car. What is even more impressive is that this inflatable canoe is as stable as a regular hard-body canoe. A big factor to such stability is the patented all drop stitch construction of the craft.

The air compartments can be inflated to a max pressure of 10 psi. In terms of quantity, there are 3 bladders in total (port, starboard, and floor). The main fabric used here is a 1,100 decitex (1000 denier) reinforced material.

With the estimated 488 cm. (16 ft.) length and 97 cm. width of this canoe, it can accommodate 2-3 persons. If you are going to paddle with 3 people aboard, then the ideal weight limit is 363 kg. On the other hand, if there is just the two of you, you can bring some gears, up to 415 kg. of total load.

Another amazing feature of the Sea Eagle TC16 Travel inflatable canoe is the packaged seats, which also makes use of the drop stitch technology. Each seat has a backrest, which yields long lasting comfort. Additionally, you can adjust the seating arrangement through the 12 D-rings, so that everyone can get ample legroom.

You no longer have to worry about slipping, thanks to the 2 diamond patterned non-slip EVA foam pads on the deck floor. And even though the hull weight is 32 kg., the front and rear carry handles, plus the 2 center carry handles, provide a lot of ways to divide manpower when transporting the TC16 canoe.

If you are experienced enough for a class IV whitewater, the Sea Eagle TC16 (16’) Travel canoe is certainly up for the challenge. The 4 open and close floor drains of the inflatable canoe are also put to great use in such activity, because of all the splashing that will take place.

    • Sea Eagle 375FC FoldCat Inflatable Pontoon Boat

Sea Eagle Green 375fc Inflatable FoldCat Fishing Boat - Pro Angler Guide PackageThe Sea Eagle 375FC FoldCat is yet another type of inflatable that deviates from the majority on this list, because it is an inflatable pontoon boat. It features a patented folding frame design, which has the bracing platforms already attached to the tubes.

This revolutionary design is what allows the product to be rolled and unrolled without much effort, except for detaching the seats and other custom parts. In a conventional framed pontoon boat, you would need to bolt in the separate frames.

The full fabric flooring is also another edge that the 375FC FoldCat possesses over other pontoon boats, which typically come with an open bottom. Its primary function is to prevent your small items from dropping directly in the water.

When completely assembled, this Sea Eagle inflatable pontoon boat will measure 375 cm. long and 137 cm. wide. Such space is optimal for 2 adult-sized humans. The overall load limit is 295 kg., which is perfect for reeling in those big catch, without being weighed down.

Customizability is a huge part of this inflatable boat. You can have it outfitted with a single 360° swivel seat and a pedestal for that perfect solo, standing/sitting fishing experience.

If you like to fish with company, just add another swivel seat to double the fun. You can get a full list of all compatible attachments in Sea Eagle’s catalog.

Rowing the Sea Eagle 375FC FoldCat boat is effortless, thanks to the built-in oarlocks. If you want to take it up a notch, then consider installing a petrol or electric outboard via the available motor mount.

    • Sea Eagle 285 Frameless Inflatable Pontoon Boat

Sea Eagle 285 Inflatable Frameless Fishing Pontoon Boat - Pro PackageThere is just something peaceful about fishing on your own. If you are the type of person that finds gratification in such situation, then the Sea Eagle 285 frameless pontoon boat will match you perfectly. Although it is not as fortified as the FoldCat series, it still has optimal stability for one person.

The Sea Eagle 285 sports a U-frame design, which is quite common in frameless pontoons. The floor, however, is raised and made from 1,000 denier polyester fabric. It is strong enough to support an upright position, so you can reel with total efficacy.

Moreover, the elevated floor complements the integrated oarlocks, since you get to row in a much better position. If you are not a fan of manual rowing, then perhaps a motor will do the trick. You can mount a small outboard, up to 3-hp, on the Sea Eagle 285 pontoon boat.

  • Sea Eagle Razorlite 393rl (Solo Version)

Sea Eagle Razorlite 393rl (Solo Version)

    Kayak Overview

Sea Eagle Dropstitch razorlite Pro KayakSea Eagle is back yet again with another highly innovative inflatable kayak. The first of its kind even, the Sea Eagle Razorlite features an all drop stitched hull. Meaning it can be inflated to a much higher PSI than any other inflatable kayak on the market right now. There are two versions of it, a solo and a tandem version, both are drop stitched and will deliver a truly unique paddling experience.

    See Best Price Blue

The most notable feature of the Razorlite is the drop stitching material. While Sea Eagle has made inflatable kayaks in the past with drop stitch technology, it’s only been the floors that have received this special treatment. This time around, they decided to go all in and make the whole kayak drop stitched. This allows you to inflate the whole kayak to a much higher air pressure than regular inflatables, meaning you’ll get a rock-solid boat, you won’t get any closer to a hard shell kayak than this.

Another unique feature is the design. Unlike the majority of inflatable kayaks, the Sea Eagle Razorlite does not have large pontoon like tubes on each side but rather very thin sidewalls. This makes it look and act more like a traditional hard shell than any other inflatable. The narrow width gives you the advantage of a sleek and streamlined design, letting you paddle at the speed you never thought were possible. The major downside to the narrow design is reduced stability when compared to other inflatables.

The Razorlite has stern and bow molds, as well as a rear skeg, giving it excellent tracking capabilities. It will slice through the wind and choppy waters just like a touring hard shell kayak does. The molds are also the world’s first-speed entry system. With a double concave at the stern and bow, you’ll be riding on small pockets of air, which both reduce friction and drag, allowing you to go faster than ever before.

    Features

    • Made entirely of drop stitch material
    • Double concave stern and bow molds reduce friction and drag
    • Designed to look and function like a hard shell kayak

    Specifications

    • Dimensions: 155 inches in length (13 ft) , 28 inches (2.3 ft)
    • Capacity: 610 pounds
    • Weight: 28 pounds
    • Material: 1,100 Decitex Reinforced

    Our Review

    [wp-review]

    See Best Price Blue

It’s a no brainer that this kayak looks like no other inflatable, but is it just as unique when it comes to performance? When we first saw the Sea Eagle Razorlite, we had no idea it was an inflatable kayak. We actually had no idea what it was made of, it looked like it was made from some kind of foam material. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that it was an inflatable.

Inflating it to 10 PSI is surprisingly easy

We thought it would be hard to inflate it to 10 PSI, but it’s actually not much harder than inflating a regular inflatable. There are three air chambers, the two side walls, and the floor. It’s easier to inflate the floor first and then the side chambers. Since both the walls and floor are so thin, it’s only a matter of minutes (5 minutes if you want to be precise) before they are fully inflated and ready to go.

The included hand pump makes everything so much easier as there’s a pressure gauge installed, no more guesswork! Pumping it up to 7 PSI is a breeze and goes fairly quickly, after that you’ll have to put a little more effort in. Luckily the three last bars get filled with air really fast, so fast it’s easy to over-inflate. Be careful and keep a close watch on the pressure gauge!

The narrow width makes it unstable and wobbly, however…

When we first sat down we quickly realized that it didn’t feel like anything we were used to. Just trying to get seated proved to be a wobbly experience, luckily we managed to get inside without falling into the water. The stability is pretty much the same as a regular sit-inside hard shell, meaning if you rock side to side you’ll tip it over. We quickly figured that we would need to be focused unless we wanted to get wet. It takes a while to get used to instability, especially if you’ve only paddled wider kayaks before, but once you get the hang of it you’ll be paddling faster than everyone else.

With that out of the way, we want to stress that the narrow and rather unstable design is not a drawback, but a feature. The Sea EagleRazorlite is not meant to be the kayak you take for a relaxing day at the lake but is best used where having a lot of speed is essential. We were impressed at just how fast we could paddle, we must’ve hit a steady 6 MPH. It’s all about performance when talking about the Razorlite.

Included footrest is a nice feature which helps you paddle better

A nice included feature is the footrest, it’s very simple but oh so functional. It’s basically a PVC pipe that you attach with straps to two D-rings. It doesn’t sound like much but we can assure you it will help you a lot when paddling, especially if you’re still getting used to the narrow design. With the footrest installed, you immediately feel more in control. Having something to brace your feet against really helps. If you still have problems finding the balance, try bracing your knees against the sides.

Very portable thanks to its backpack carry bag

It comes with a nice (although a bit large) backpack. It will fit the hand pump, footrest, and the actual kayak itself. The backpack is a nice addition since it makes transportation a whole lot easier, especially if you do not own a car and have to use public transport. When fully packed it does get a little heavy though, if you’ve hiked with a heavy backpack before, it’s comparable to that.

Padded high back seat, what else could you want?

The high back seat is another nice addition, it’s padded and feels extra comfortable compared to older Sea Eagle seats. You can adjust the backrest to your desired angle with the included straps, you cannot however change the seat position. It’s not possible to move more to the front or the back, you’re stuck with the seat being in the middle. The backside of the seat has a nice large pocket to store smaller gear, cell phones, medicine, snacks, and the like.

Remember to choose the correct package

As with all Sea Eagle products, the Razorlite can be purchased in three different packages. The more money you spend on a package, the more and better accessories you’ll get. The following packages are available for the Razorlite:

    • Pro Package: The most basic package comes with the kayak, skeg, high back seat, 4-part paddle, footrest, backpack, and the hand pump.
    • Pro Carbon Package: When you purchase the Pro Carbon Package you’ll get the same features as the Pro Package, the only difference is the paddle. Instead of the 4-part paddle, you’ll get a 2-part carbon fiber paddle. It’s about half a pound lighter but that’s about it, it’s OK but in our opinion, it’s not worth the extra money.
    • Adventure Package: Same with this one, same features, different paddle. This paddle is worth the extra money, however. It’s made out of a carbon blend and has been ergonomically designed to provide you with the most power-efficient strokes. The paddle helps you keep your wrists, forearms, and elbows aligned properly to avoid injury.

    Pros

    • Drop stitch material allows for a rock-solid inflatable kayak
    • The narrow design lets you go faster than ever before
    • Tracks straight as an arrow thanks to the molded bow and stern

    Cons

    • Less stable compared to other inflatables

    Conclusion

If you want an inflatable kayak that is both portable and lightweight but doesn’t want to sacrifice performance over portability, you should definitely go with the Razorlite. You just don’t get any closer to a hard shell than this. If you’re into kayaking because you like to exercise, race with your friends or just like to go fast, Razorlite will make you one happy camper. If you’ve said “NO!” to any of the above, we suggest taking a look at the FastTrack. It’s wide, more stable, and best suited for people wanting it to take it slow.

  • Sea Eagle FastTrack (385 FT) Review

Sea Eagle FastTrack (385 FT) Review

    Kayak Overview

Sea Eagle 385 FastTrack Inflatable KayakThe Sea Eagle FastTrack is one of the best tandem inflatable kayaks from Sea Eagle. This is quite the step up from their cheaper models like the 370 and 330. It’s faster, sleeker, and lighter than ever before. The sleek, curved touring shape combined with their new “NeedleKnife keel” makes this a truly high performing inflatable kayak. Most importantly of all, however, is the fact that the 385 is designed to be safe and stable.

    See Best Price Blue

It weighs 32 pounds and is capable of taking up to two full-grown adults. The total carrying capacity of the 385 is 635 pounds, so even with two adults on board, there are still about 400 pounds left of carrying capacity, perfect for a dog or some bags.

It’s made from a reinforced, 1000 denier material with wide overlapping seams for extra safety. The material is also completely resistant to saltwater and UV rays from the sun, meaning it will not deteriorate if you were to leave it outside for longer periods of time. There are 4 air chambers, which is another sign of Sea Eagle prioritizing safety.

The Sea Eagle FastTrack can handle lakes, ponds, and ocean bay areas with ease. As for rivers, the 385 is safe to paddle in rivers up to a class 2 rating, anything beyond that will push its limits.

The innovative inflatable keel combined with the rear skeg makes for really good tracking (hence the name FastTrack). It will paddle true and straight in almost any kind of condition, whether you’re paddling in a bay area, upstreams, or on a windy and choppy lake.

    Features:

    •         Inflatable needlenose keel provides excellent tracking

    Our Review

Sea Eagle has done it once again, this time it’s better than ever before. Let’s just say that this inflatable kayak deserves the name “FastTrack”.

There’s A Reason Why They Call It The FastTrack

Let’s start with the most interesting feature, a feature that makes this boat better from the rest. We’re of course talking about the inflatable keel at the bow. It’s designed to keep the kayak going straight no matter what, even if you’re paddling your heart out at a choppy ocean. In the later versions of the Fast Track, Sea Eagle streamlined and point the keel a little bit more in the front. This new keel design is what they call the “NeedleKnife” keel, it cuts through the water with a lot less resistance, reducing drag and making you go faster. Unfortunately (depending on how you see it) we didn’t get to see how the tracking was in rougher water. But from the testing we did on the lakes and rivers we have close by, we can safely say that the tracking is truly unique, we dare to say it’s on par with Advanced Elements, if not better.

We love the high-pressure drop stitch floor, feels like a solid floor

Another interesting aspect of the Fast Track is its unique drop stitch floor. It’s a separate air chamber and thanks to the drop stitching it can be inflated to very high air pressure, making it very rigid and hard. The floor is actually so rigid that you can stand up and still be very stable. Just for giggles, we tried if we could paddle it like a stand-up board, and it actually worked quite OK. Not as efficient as sitting down but definitely possible, it’s important to mention that we have paddle stand up boards like two times before, so we’re ultra beginners.

You can run it over with a jeep without causing any damage

For someone that doesn’t know a lot about materials, the words “1,000 Reinforced Fabric” might not say much. What it basically means is that it’s made with a thick and very durable material. It’s actually so thick you can hit it with a hammer (with both the flat and clawed part), drop a cinderblock on it, or run it over with a Jeep. The material makes launching the kayak on paved surfaces a worry of the past, you can scrape it against the pavement all you want, it’s not going to tear or puncture. The reinforced fabric made us feel safe enough to try it on the shallower areas of our river, we did scrape against some objects but in the end, all we found was just scratch marks, we couldn’t find any signs of damage.

Set up is so easy even a kid could do it

Setting up the Sea Eagle FastTrack was really easy, so easy that a kid could do it without any problems. Inflation takes about 7 minutes when using the included foot pump, will take more or less the same if you use a double-action hand pump. Because it has 4 chambers you’ll have to inflate all of these separately, takes longer but it’s a lot safer. Installing the seats is as easy as tightening a couple of buckles. Even though setting it up is very straight forward, Sea Eagle has created a video on how to inflate and set it up properly.

Several packages to choose from, all with different features to suit your needs

If you’re familiar with Sea Eagle products, you know that they always let you choose from several different packages, usually ranging from Deluxe to Pro. The Sea Eagle FastTrack is a little different, however, as you have a total of 5 packages to choose from. We recommend the Pro Tandem Package, as you’ll get the good seats and good paddles. Here’s a quick overview of what each package gets you:

    • Solo Package: This is the least expensive one and will give you the most basic features. It comes with only one seat and one paddle, it’s still the same size but you’ll have to buy additional paddles and seats if you want to go tandem.
    • Tandem Package: The tandem package is available in both the Deluxe and Pro format. We recommend getting the Pro version as you’ll get high back seats, better paddles, and a waterproof bag.
    • Fishing Package: The fishing version of the 385 comes with a high swivel chair instead, making it ideal for anglers who want to fish from any direction they want.
    • Pro Carbon Package: This package comes with high-end carbon fiber paddles and two high back seats.
    • QuickSail Package: If you don’t fancy paddling, you can let the wind drive you forward. The QuickSail package comes with a 14 square foot sail that can be installed onto your Fast Track in less than a minute.

    Pros

    • Very stable and rigid
    • Built to last, the strong materials will withstand abuse for years
    • Plenty of packages to choose from
    • One of the safest inflatable kayaks

    Cons

    • High price

    Conclusion:

The Sea Eagle FastTrack is a high-end inflatable kayak, one of the best you can buy at the moment. It does its name justice, as it’s one of the best tracking kayaks we’ve tried so far (and we have tried a lot of them). Not only does it track straight as an arrow, but it’s also fast as well. With no side to side movement when paddling, all of your power and momentum is used efficiently. Sea eagle had the goal of making the Fast Track an extremely safe kayak and they executed that task perfectly. It’s super stable, rigid, durable, and has multiple air chambers.

A little bit more pricey than most of the kayaks we’ve reviewed, but the price is justified. It’s hard to find a kayak that is this good for a lower price, we dare to say that it’s impossible.  If you’re looking for an inflatable kayak that will handle calm waters with perfection, you can be sure you’re getting your money’s worth with the 385.

  • Sea Eagle 285 Frameless Pontoon Boat Review

Sea Eagle 285 Frameless Pontoon Boat Review

    Pontoon Boat Overview

This is the Sea Eagle 285, a frameless pontoon boat that is made with one purpose in mind, fishing. The U-frame design of the 285 provides you with the maximum amount of fishing with the least amount of hull weight. It comes with plenty of features to ensure that you’re on top of your fishing game. It has everything a fisherman would need, rod holders, 360 oarlocks, swivel seat, hardwood floor, plenty of storage space, and a motor mount. The boat itself is very portable, when packed into its carrying bag it doesn’t take more space than a larger backpack, which makes for easy storage.

    See Best Price Blue

The Sea Eagle 285 can be used in two different ways, you can either row it with the included oars or you can go all in and run it fully rigged. When it’s fully rigged you’ll have a wooden floorboard that provides a stable and ample area for standing and casting. The swivel seat can turn 360 degrees in each direction and will give you a perfect view of your surroundings. When the floorboard, swivel seat, motor mount, and trolling motor are installed, it will weigh around 59 pounds. If you were to choose the oars only, the total weight will drop to about 42 pounds.

This is what you would call ultra-portable, thanks to the frameless design the boat packs into a small carry bag, which makes transportation from your car to the shore easy and quick. The total set up a time for the 285 is about 5 minutes, depending on your experience level. Set up time includes inflating it and installing all the accessories, like the floorboard, seat, motor mount, and rod holders. When packed down it will store nicely in the trunk of your car or underneath the bed.

The hull is made from 1,000 deniers woven based cloth, this gives it a tremendous amount of strength and the PVC coating creates a durable, waterproof, and air-tight seal.

The 285 is equipped with universal Scotty mounts, meaning you can customize your boat as you wish. Choose from a wide set of accessories like rod holders, sounder mounts, anchor locks, running lights, bait boards, or even cup holders.

This is a great inflatable pontoon boat for lakes, rivers, bay areas, and small creeks, almost any area with calm water will do just fine. The large air chambers allow the boat to support a lot of weight, yet it drags as little as 4 inches of water, meaning you’ll be “gliding” on top of the water instead of in it. This allows for fishing in shallow areas where heavier boats would never dare to go.

    Features

    • U-frame design lets you use the boat it’s full potential while still being lightweight
    • Durable and strong 1,000 denier hull to prevent any punctures from happening
    • Raised 1000D fabric floor, allowing for a faster more Responsive boat
    • Can either be used with only oars or fully equipped with swivel seats and motors

    Specifications

    • Dimensions: 107 inches (9 ft) in length, 48 inches (4 ft) in width
    • Weight: 32 pounds (only hull)
    • Carrying Capacity: 450 pounds
    • Material: 1000 Denier 36 mil

    Our Review

    [wp-review]

    See Best Price Blue

We were psyched when we got to test the Sea Eagle 285, we had heard lots of great things about it and wanted to test it for ourselves. Turns out it lives up to all expectations, we dare to say that it goes beyond your expectations even.

No pressure gauge, but that’s no problem with the included foot pump

A common problem with inflatable boats is overinflating them, this usually results in a broken bladder. This happens mostly due to inexperience but also because it can be hard to tell what PSI the bladder is at with no pressure gauge. The 285 doesn’t come with a pressure gauge, but that’s not a bad thing in this case. The included foot pump is just too weak to over inflate it, meaning you can pump all the air you want into it and without running the risk of exploding it.

Large air chambers let you fish in shallow areas but makes for poor tracking

As you already know, the large air chambers allow this boat to glide on top of the water surface, it’s good in the sense that you can enter shallow areas without scraping against the bottom. But like always, if there’s an advantage there’s a drawback. In this case, the large air chambers make for really poor tracking and steering, you’re literally controlling an inflated U letter so to speak. We were unfortunate when we tested the 285, we had plenty of wind and struggled to keep going in a straight line. We do not recommend fishing in areas where there’s a lot of wind, you will be spending more time trying to control the boat instead of fishing. If you do not have any other options, please go yourself an anchor so you don’t drift away.

Rod holders could be position further forward

Another minor pet peeve we have is the position of the rod holders. We just don’t see why they place them behind the seat just by the trolling motor. It gets annoying having to spin 180 degrees whenever you want to get a hold of your rod. This can be easily fixed by gluing on additional rod holders in the front.

Really compact and lightweight, if you only use the hull and oars

We love how compact the hull gets when deflated and packed into its bag, it’s really not much bigger than a hiking backpack. But that’s just the hull, if you plan on going fully rigged, keep in mind that you will need space for the swivel seat and its mount, the floorboard, the motor mount, and the trolling motor. It quickly adds up and suddenly it’s not “ultra-portable” anymore, it will still fit in the trunk of your car but don’t expect to carry all the gear to shore in one go.

The floorboard is stable and lets you stand up and fish

The hard floor is a nice addition to this boat, it’s not very often you can actually stand and fish from an inflatable, but with 285 you can. Both I and my wife had no problems standing up, throwing, or reeling in fish. The standing platform was wide enough for both of us and it felt very stable at all times.

Suitable for fishing in a wide variety of areas, as long as the water is calm

While it’s possible to take the 285 to a wide variety of waters, like lakes, ponds, rivers, and bay areas, it will not do very well in anything that’s not considered to be calm waters. It will handle rivers, but only class 1 rivers, anything with whitewater is not suitable for this pontoon. If you plan to fish in saltwater areas, remember to get yourself a trolling motor that’s made for saltwater, as freshwater ones are not made to withstand corrosion. While you’re at it, make sure to clean the hull thoroughly if you’ve been in saltwater areas.

Has plenty of space for gear

Gear storage is another plus, the boat can carry up to 450 pounds and that’s a lot for a one-person boat. Say the average person is 200 pounds, that leaves you with 250 pounds to store whatever you want. We could bring a cooler box, battery, and plenty of fishing gear with us without feeling cramped. You can buy additional accessories from Sea Eagle to hold your bait, cameras, and anchors if needed, so running out of space is not very likely unless you’re really heavy on gear.

    Pros

    • Can hold plenty of weight, lots of space for gear
    • Easy and quick to set up, doesn’t take more than 5 minutes
    • Hard floor allows for stand up fishing

    Cons

    • Rod holders are in an awkward position
    • Poor tracking, hard to control in very windy conditions

    Conclusion

The 285 frameless pontoon boat from Sea Eagle is great if you want something that can get you around in large areas with calm water. While it’s possible to fish in calmer rivers, the 285 will perform the best in conditions where there’s no wind and no waves. We like the fact that you can choose to either uses it as a basic rowing boat or all in and rig it with swivel seats, motors, and plenty of other fun stuff. The floorboard is a really nice addition which allows to stand up and fish but also carries additional heavier gear.

If you’re looking to get something for the local lake that’s easy to set up and store, you cannot go wrong with 285.

  • Sea Eagle 370 (SE370) Kayak Review

Sea Eagle 370 (SE370) Kayak Review

    Kayak Overview

sea eagle inflatable kayakIf you’re looking for an inflatable 2 man kayak that is light, portable, and has plenty of room, you’ve found it. The Sea Eagle 370 kayak (also known as the SE370) is great performance combined with a great price. This inflatable 2 man kayak is made out of extra-thick 38-millimeter PolyKrylar (a type of PVC which is extra strong and durable). The heavy-duty hull is puncture-resistant, so if you want to bring your dog out for a day of fishing, it won’t be a problem anymore. Your dog couldn’t puncture this kayak even if he or she tried to. This kayak is also NMMA certified, which in layman’s terms means that the kayak has been inspected by someone with a lot of knowledge about inflatable kayaks and this person has stated that it’s safe and secure to use.

    See Best Price Blue

With a weight load of 650 pounds, this Sea Eagle kayak can take two full-grown adults and a child or a large bag without any problems. But what we think is the most impressive feature about the 370 is its weight, a mere 32 pounds. Thanks to its lightweight design it can be packed into a travel-friendly bag that will fit into any car, even Smart cars!

It’s easy to set up, the three main chambers require about 100 pumps of air each. While it might take a couple of tries before you get the gist of it, you’ll get used to it in no time. If you’re the lazy type and don’t fancy spending 10 minutes (it might just be us, but out of 3 tries this was our average time) pumping your kayak, you can opt for a motorized pump, which will bring the pump time down to a matter of minutes.

To sum it up, the Sea Eagle 370 Pro Package is a versatile and affordable inflatable kayak. Use it for a calm day out on the lake fishing, explore new rivers with a friend or get an adrenaline rush paddling down white water rapids. Yes, you read that right, you can take this kayak through class 3 white water. In our opinion, this one of the best “bang-for-your-buck” kayaks you can buy today.

    Features

    • Lightweight and portable
    • Tough and extra-thick PolyKrylar hull
    • NMMA certified
    • Inflatable spray skirts to avoid getting wet
    • Drain valve for easy removal of water

    Specifications

    • Interior: 10 feet, 8 inches by 1 foot, 1 inch
    • Exterior: 12 feet, 6 inches by 2 feet, 10inches
    • Capacity: 3 Persons or 650 pounds (In reality only two full-grown adults will fit)
    • Weight: 32 pounds
    • Material: 38 mil PolyKrylar (K80 PVC)

    Pro or Deluxe version?

You might have noticed that the Sea Eagle 370 comes in two versions, a “Deluxe Package” and a “Pro Package”. While the Deluxe model is slightly cheaper (around $30 cheaper), we suggest that you get the Pro model instead.

The Deluxe and Pro models are almost the same, there’s just one slight difference that makes the cheaper version a real deal-breaker (backbreaker would be a more fitting word). We found that the seats in the Pro version are A LOT better. The seats that come with the Deluxe version have poor back support unless you slide them all the way back against the spray skirt, which is fine if you’re paddling by yourself, but as soon as another person joins, someone’s back are going to get upset.

    Our Review

    [wp-review]

    See Best Price Blue

Let’s just start by saying that the Sea Eagle 370 Pro is one of the most affordable kayaks for beginners. We’ve recommended this to many beginners looking to get into the sport, and we’ve yet to hear any complaints from them. With the versatility and the price tag, it’s hard to go wrong.

Dual skegs help to track, but not in winds
Unlike some other cheaper inflatables we’ve tried, the 370 comes with dual skegs that help you with boat tracking and keeping speed. However, we found that even with the skegs, the kayak still wants to drift to the side, especially in stronger winds and currents. But we’re not complaining too much, it would be nice to have a little better tracking but you cannot get everything from a reasonable cheap kayak. It also wouldn’t be fair comparing the tracking on the Sea Eagle 370 against a hard shell.

Pressure gauge to tell you the PSI
Another great feature we love about this inflatable is the pressure gauge, something which is not all too common. The pressure gauge tells you just how much air you need to pump into your kayak. It’s a great little tool for beginners, preventing them from under/over inflation. We do however miss a pressure gauge on the floor chamber, we were quite disappointed by this as they already went through the trouble to install it on the main air chamber.

Handles more like a canoe than a kayak
If you’re familiar with hardshell kayaks and canoes, you know that both handle them differently. And while Sea Eagle calls this a kayak, it really handles more like a canoe due to the high center of gravity. But don’t let that scare you, it’s still just as fun. Another thing we’d like to point out because this is an inflatable, the kayak will flex in waves. Quite a weird feeling, especially if you’re coming from hard shell kayaks or canoes, but you’ll get used to it in no time.

Paddles feel cheap, get something else
One thing we don’t like about the 370 is the paddles. While they do their job just fine, they feel a little bit cheap and our version ‘rattled’ every time we paddled through the water. Sure, we paddled the whole day and nothing happened, but we rather are on the safe side next time and bring something more high end (Werner Kalliste manufacture some of the best paddles on the market) Wouldn’t want to have the paddle break on you when you’re miles away from shore.

Seat webbing bleeds out and stains the white hull
Another thing that has been bothering a lot of 370 kayak owners is the bleeding from the webbing on the seats. When wet, the blue color will bleed onto the white hull and stain it. We don’t see this as a drawback though, your sports equipment is meant to be used after all!

    Pros

    • Really light and compact for it’s carrying capacity
    • Dual skegs for better tracking and speed
    • Pressure gauge to help you pump your kayak correctly
    • Versatile and affordable entry model

    Cons

    • Paddles felt cheap and weak
    • Lack of pressure gauge for floor air chamber
    • Webbing on the seats can stain the hull of the kayak

    Conclusion

If you’re looking for a fun and affordable way to get into the world of inflatable kayaking, this is it. The Sea Eagle 370 Pro is versatile and will allow you to try everything from calm lakes to white water rapids, perfect for someone who still wants to figure out what they want to do the most with their kayak. It’s built out of heavy-duty PVC, which makes it puncture resistant and dog paw-friendly. It’s a rather large inflatable kayak at 12 feet, which makes a great choice for couples or people who want to carry a lot of gear with them. All in all, a great value for great money.
